Remote jobs in finance and compliance: how to find them
Remote work in finance and compliance is more available than most professionals realise — but it is not evenly distributed across roles, it is not always advertised as remote, and finding the right opportunities requires a specific search strategy.
Which finance and compliance roles genuinely offer remote working
Not all finance roles are equally remote-compatible. The most accessible are those that are primarily screen-based, with defined deliverables and limited need for physical presence with clients, trading floors, or branch operations.
Roles with strong remote potential:
- KYC and AML Analyst — document review, screening, and case management are highly remote-compatible; many banks and compliance outsourcing firms actively hire remotely for these roles
- Financial Analyst and FP&A — forecasting, modelling, and reporting work is well-suited to remote; particularly at technology companies and growth-stage firms
- Risk Analyst — model-based and data-driven work can be done remotely; less so for roles with heavy committee involvement or senior stakeholder management
- Compliance Consultant — project-based consultants frequently work remotely, especially at specialist compliance boutiques
- RegTech and FinTech roles — compliance roles at technology companies are disproportionately remote-friendly compared to traditional banks
Roles with limited remote availability: front-office banking and relationship management, trading floor roles, branch-based compliance, and senior leadership positions where board and regulatory meetings require physical presence.
Where to find remote finance and compliance roles
- LinkedIn — use the "Remote" filter under Location; set job alerts for "KYC remote" and "AML compliance remote"
- Specialist job boards — Compliance Week and financial services recruitment firms list remote and hybrid compliance roles that do not always appear on general job boards
- Direct company career pages — RegTech companies (ComplyAdvantage, Fenergo, Napier, etc.) often have distributed teams and post remote roles on their own sites before third-party boards
- Remote-first job boards — We Work Remotely, Remote.co, and FlexJobs list verified remote-only positions across industries including finance
How to signal you are a strong remote candidate
Employers hiring for remote roles assess self-management, communication quality, and reliability more explicitly than for office-based roles. On your application: reference previous experience with remote tools (Slack, Teams, Jira, etc.), demonstrate structured communication in your cover letter, and if you have worked remotely before — even partially — mention it specifically and what it produced.
The most underestimated remote finance opportunity: compliance roles at fintech and payments companies. These firms have regulatory requirements similar to banks but are far more remote-first in culture. Your compliance skillset transfers directly.
